Oh how I wish I was looking outside right now and seeing this view. But, I am not. Instead, it is November and I am seeing snow, so I will just relive my fun summer outings by sharing them with you.
Hubby and I love to ride, our Harley that is. We took off on a ride to Two Harbors, Minnesota one day and hubby decided to bring us someplace we have never been. Silver Creek Cliff. Now, we have actually been there, thousands of times. See, it is on the main road (Highway 61) that leads from Two Harbors all the way up to Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, and to Canada. But, years ago they redid the road, took out some really bad corners and put in a couple tunnels and some overlooks. Like most, who live in an area you just don’t get out and see what’s in your area. So, we finally did. And so glad we did. Aside from it being extremely hot, and the fact that walking in jeans was not fun as sweat was running from every inch of us, we enjoyed taking in some local scenery and kept saying… why have we not done this before.
Here is my hubby (Tony) standing on the edge of a cliff that leads down to Lake Superior. Such an amazing view… and the water was nice too 😉 Haha!! Seriously, it is an amazing view even if my hubby isn’t standing there. Lake Superior is one of the 5 great lakes and holds many stories. Amazon sells some great books written about Lake Superior. Like, The Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. If you like reading stories you have to check out all the books about Lake Superior.
We parked the bike in the parking lot off the side of the road and ventured up the trail to the top of the cliff. A nice hike, on a hot day. This is a view looking toward Silver Bay. Was a nice clear day and you could see a long way.
This is one of the 2 tunnels you will find on Hwy 61 between Two Harbors and Silver Bay. They are very unique and draw a lot of attention from tourists.
The HUGE cliff on the side of the road you see as you are entering the tunnel. Think it looks huge here, you should see it in person. Breathtaking is an understatement. But, living here, we just don’t always take time to really look and admire and enjoy.
A little better view of the tunnel, with the rock on one side. It is a neat site, and if you ever get to Minnesota and take a drive along the North Shore, stop and soak in the beauty of this view and structure. You won’t be disappointed. And just a short drive from here is Split Rock Lighthouse which is a total must see for any tourist.
