Another Rock Fest has come and gone. Hard to believe we have been going for 11 years now. Great friends, fun times, food, music and more. See all the smiling faces ~ 🙂
Was so excited this year to have my son and his girlfriend join us. We paid for a portion of their one day ticket so they could see Hinder, Adelitas Way and Breaking Benjamin. We also gave them our pit passes for Breaking Benjamin.. and they were so excited. That is one of my son’s favorite bands currently.
Every year the one vacation I look forward to the most is Rock Fest, held in Cadott,WI. This was our 11th year in a row going, and we renewed our tickets for 2016 to make it our 12th year. We camp/party with 3 other couples and have a blast no matter the weather or the bands that play.
This year the line up was probably the worst since we started going. Yes, the bands are all great, but I say it was the worst due to us not liking most of them. Nickleback was supposed to be there, but had to cancel due to the singer needing surgery. That really bummed me out as I was so looking forward to seeing them. But, Godsmack took their spot which was a good thing as we love them too. A bit taken back though that Sully felt the need to cut down Nickleback over and over. It was unprofessional and uncalled for. But, they still rocked the stage.
Godsmack, Hinder, and Jackyl were the only bands I cared to see, so for that I spent a lot of time back at camp… relaxing and visiting with friends. I had a great weekend as did all those who we hang with. We had pit passes for Hinder and Jackyl so that was fun, and Tony caught a pick from Hinder.
Rock Fest has changed from a 4 day event to a 3 day event for 2016. I have mixed feelings about that, but will give it a go and see how it is. It will still be a fun vacation even though it’s one less day.
My main complaint this year, other than the line up not being to my liking, was that Rock Fest had helicopter rides (an attraction), and the helicopter kept flying over the campground, very low and it was loud and a huge bother to those of us trying to visit. I actually posted on the Rock Fest Facebook page a couple times, only to have them remove my post. I am not pleased with that, nor that they didn’t address the issue. The helicopter was so low and loud that when if flew over the fest concert grounds it drowned out the music. The music and relaxation is what I pay a ton of money for. If I wanted the helicopter noise or ride I would pay for that. I hope they don’t have that attraction back next year.
Also not impressed with the way they do the Sunday upgrades. 3 years in a row my hubby has stood in line for hours to be able to upgrade us, only to have to deal with a very stupid upgrade plan by whoever is in charge of that.
But, all in all it is still a vacation and I love my vacations. Do you like music? Do you go to music fests? Tell me where and when.
Some Rock Fest Fun. Shots for the girls in the shape of sperm (LOL), pudding and jello shots, group pics, concert pics and just lots of fun.
