Protein is vital in maintaining health, without it the body would be unable to function properly. Lacking essential protein the body would suffer complications in circulation, have slowed rates of healing, and be susceptible to other conditions including anemia and hypotension. Protein is a key building block that your body relies on heavily, especially the immune system. Proteins also aid in tissue repair and fighting off illness and disease. Protein, in addition to carbohydrates, provides energy for the body and build muscles. It’s very important to give your body protein every day as it isn’t stored.
Protein comes from most foods such as meat, fish, dairy, eggs, nuts, and vegetables. Unfortunately, some sources are full of protein but also bring fat, carbs, or sugar with them. A chicken breast provides protein without the rest, but it isn’t practical to eat chicken as your only protein source. I mean, there are many different preparations of chicken, but eventually you’ll get tired of it. That’s why it’s great there are products such as Premier Protein® shakes and bars to supplement your protein intake. They provide some of the highest protein while being low in both calories and sugar.
Premier Protein offers a variety of protein shakes including new 100% Whey Protein Powder, available in chocolate and vanilla. Both flavors come in a 3 lb container, are gluten free, and packed with 30 grams of protein and only 2 grams of sugar per scoop. At only 180 calories, this whey protein powder contains no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. It can be mixed with water, added to a smoothie, or scooped into baked goods for an extra protein boost.
The Premier Protein website has tons more information on all things protein. There’s a calculator that you can use to input your age, gender, weight, and height to determine how many grams of protein you should have per day. There are articles on when the best times are for protein depending on your lifestyle. I feature I found helpful were the recipes, most people lose interest in drinking plain protein powder with water, but with these suggestions you can have plenty of tasty drink and smoothie alternatives. There are also recipes for baked goods such as protein pancakes, muffins, and banana bread. Check out more on the Premier Protein website.
My son was here one day and wanted a shake so I whipped up a berry smoothie just for him. Recipe ~ 8 oz Almond milk, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup mixed frozen berries, 1 scoop Premier Protein powder, 4 ice cubes. Looks good doesn’t it? He enjoyed it, and because he did I sent the huge tub of Premier Protein home with him. He is big into working out and on a fixed income so I like to help him out and giving him supplements that are good for him.
