Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!! That was me cheering for Tony as he came across the finish line for his very first race ever. As you know, he decided when he started his journey that he was going to run a 5K that was on June 1st. Well, he stuck to his goal and did it. I am so very proud of him. He is doing great!! Down to #182.5 and only a bit over 2 months on Nutrisystem.
Tony is now starting his 3rd month of Nutrisystem and is starting to eat a bit more on his own. He generally sticks to the foods for breakfast, lunch, and snacks but has been eating dinners on his own. I will generally cook fish, chicken, or venison with a ton of veggies and so it is very healthy and he eats a portion controlled size. He is so determined and so close to his goal that he is really watching everything he is eating. This is good because it is teaching him every day how to eat, what to eat, when to eat, when you are not really hungry but just bored, etc. So many people eat out of being bored and not being hungry and that just can grab ahold of you and make it hard in the long run to change your eating habits. Tony used to be one of those people. Now, he will say “I’m hungry” but instead of eating, he will grab the guitar and play some music, or grab his phone and play checkers or surf online. Doing things to take your mind away from food isn’t always easy but is a good place to start. Or, even keeping simple snacks on hand, like nuts. Nuts will curb a craving, and they are so good for you.
Here he is after the race. He is all sweat soaked, but has a smile 🙂
