What does the month of July mean for Tony? It means outside chores, working on the house (siding), prepping for our annual Rock Fest vacation, working on the motorhome (or camper), spending time hanging with old friends at the local Two Harbors Heritage Days, joining in on a parade, good food, drink, and just being busy busy busy. That is what Tony (and I) have been doing for the first 2 weeks of July. When you are busy like this it is hard to keep on track with anything in life and a fitness plan is no different. But, one just has to keep the bigger picture in mind which is the long term goal. Tony did go up #1 this week but knows that is not a big deal because he knows that he will hit his goal in the time he gave himself. Sometimes it is not the number on the scale but more how one feels. He is feeling good, better than he has in years. He took time out to do his weekend jogging, still doing the evening exercises which consist of weight lifting (arm curls) while watching TV. Hey.. it’s a start 😉 LOL!
Tony had a good time this past weekend in our local town. It was our towns Heritage Days and also Tony’s 30th class reunion. He dusted off his race truck, that he built for drag racing, and entered the parade with it. Mind you, this is a hot little truck that does an 11 sec 1/4 mile run. Built with his 2 hands, and his very smart mind. He is amazing.. and hot to boot!
He had a good boost to his ego this week because all the people he ran into over the weekend who have not seen him in a while all were asking what he is doing. Sometimes one doesn’t really notice it themselves, but when others notice and comment it makes you take a look and realize how great you are doing. And, after the weekend I think he sees that he is doing great and it makes him more motivated to hit his goal before he is done with his 4 months of Nutrisystem. Which by the way is 15 days away. WOW!! When he started this journey I didn’t think he would make it. I don’t say that because I am mean, but only because I have known this man for over 19 years and I know how much he loves food. So, this is one time I am so happy to say, I was wrong. Tony is so stubborn, and it is really showing with his determination over the last 3 1/2 months. From his changes in eating, to entering and running a 5K, to pointing his finger at me when I slack off or feed my face with crap. LOL!! That one kills me 😉 Good thing he works all day so I have time to eat cake, cookies, pudding, candy, chips, etc., when he is gone. (I really don’t.. but could and sometimes want too)!!
Well, we are almost all packed for our annual July vacation. We head to a 4 day rock concert event on Wednesday afternoon and will be gone till Monday afternoon. It is 4 days of music, food, drink, sun (and rain), friends, and tons of fun. This is the week we look forward to all year long. And, since we don’t have to cook it makes it even better. When you are camping it is nice to not have to cook. But, that also means that it will be a bit of a challenge for us. They do offer a good selection of foods, like a salad bar, fish, meat, lots of veggies, water, etc. So, I do think Tony will be good. Plus, all one does is walk.. all day. Walk to the concert, then back to camp, then to the next concert, then around the grounds, then to camp, etc. All that for 4 days. Not to mention the standing, sweating, dancing, and just lots of movement. Can’t wait!!
I have to head to town tomorrow and get a few things for our trip. I have a list from Tony, new jeans and shorts, and belt. He started his journey wearing a very snug in the belly area size 36 waist, and now I am buying him size 32 waist pants. Now that’s what I’m talking about!!
What will be nice is Tony will have extra NS foods because he won’t eat any of the foods on his plan for 5 days. So, that is like an extra week of NS.. yeah.
