Weight loss is not always about the number on the scale, but more about how one feels or looks. How do your pants fit today, do you feel bloated or have that over full feeling like you indulged a bit much? Beginning a weight loss journey has it’s ups and downs and sometimes we rely to much on the number we see by our feet on the scale. Tony often is upset because the number just stays, or goes up one or two digits. But, as we were walking thru Walmart yesterday he said.. “man, I need to tighten my belt my pants are about to fall off and I only have one notch on my belt left.” Now, even though the scale showed no weight loss this week, his pants are telling him something totally different.
Another week of sticking to his meal plan, and trying to fit in a run when he can. He actually did run about 3 miles on both Saturday and Sunday and on Sunday when he got done with his run he said, it seems he may have to run further because he is not getting as tired out anymore. That means he is conditioning his body inside and out. And, he even has been checking the area for other short distance runs like other 5K or 6K runs. He thought when he was training for the 5K that after he ran it, he wouldn’t run anymore and now he is changing his mind. He sees results from it, not only in his increase in cardio but the fact that it is changing his body. His legs are all muscle now and his butt is toning. Yes.. his butt!! Shhh… I won’t tell him I noticed 😉 hehe
This week Tony did eat out 3 times. On Monday he took his Mom out for dinner at an Oriental buffet, but said he did mostly protein and veggies. On Saturday we ran to the local bar and had a burger, just because we had been working in the yard for 2 days and needed a break. On Sunday we went to a movie, and brought our own healthy snacks (shhhh), and then stopped at our favorite spot for dinner. Tony was so good, ordering about half of what he normally would have. He had a salad, and 9 buffalo wings. Not bad for someone who could eat 20 of them a couple months back. But upon returning home he skipped his night snack. All in all the foods he at out of the house were not to far off his plan.
Tony has 1 1/2 months left of the Nutrisystem program and then it will be back to figuring out how to cook our own meals and counting calories and keeping things in check. I am g0ing to keep a notebook on the counter so we can both keep track of our foods. And, I will be getting a kitchen scale for us to use for things like meat, fruit, veggies, snacks, etc. There are a few apps for our iphones that we will use as well. Tony is determined to still hit his goal, and to stay at his goal or continue to lose. It is amazing how his mind and attitude has changed over this journey. He said yesterday ~ “I am almost 48 and in the best shape I have ever been”. Thanks Nutrisystem for helping my husband find the man he has been looking for for some time now.
