What a ride this past 4 months has been for both Tony and I. Tony learning so much about himself, and me learning new things about him and about me.. and us. It is amazing how one changes mentally when they are trying to change their body and lifestyle. Our life used to revolve around food, and when / where / what we would eat. Now, it revolves around things like.. spending time together exercising, quality time cooking healthier meals together, and supporting each other daily on the quest for living healthy. #livinghealthy
Tony started this journey at #200 and he set a goal for himself of #175. He actually has hit that goal on a few days over the last couple weeks, but they were not his actual weigh in days so it was never logged above as his weight. But, as he has learned it isn’t always the number on the scale. A body might not be capable of achieving a certain number on the scale for many reasons. Tony is replacing his fat with muscle so his number might not change, but his body is changing. And, the better he feels the more he works out and the more variety of workouts he incorporates which means he is always burning calories and exchanging fat for muscle. Just the other day he actually did crunches. I saw him, but pretended I didn’t see him because even though I have told him that in order to tighten up his ab section he will need to do some floor work I know he didn’t do any because he didn’t want to listen to me. But, he did and then realized it isn’t so bad and now he is seeing results. Since he is not carrying that extra weight around the middle it doesn’t take much to see results forming. And with results comes more determination to see more results. It is like a drug, but a good one. He will continue to hit the #175 mark but isn’t obsessed with it and knows it is just a number.
Some fun things Tony and or Tony and I have done over the last couple weeks since our Rock Fest vacation are ~ We went hiking on a trail by our house called the Superior Hiking Trail. Funny how something can be just a few miles from your house and you just never get around to enjoying it. The trail is actually 296 miles long, so there is no way we will ever do it all. LOL! We just walked for 30 minutes, then turned around and heading back to the car. We are heading to town on Thursday for a meeting so are parking our car at one spot on Wed night, then we will start on the trail close to our house and walk the 6 miles to where our other car will be parked. So, we will for sure be all sweaty and icky for our meeting, but tis life 😉
Tony also decided one morning at about 7 am that he wanted to ride his bicycle into town to pick up his car that was at the local car dealer being fixed. It was a 19 mile ride, and he did it in an hour and 40 minutes. Part was dirt road too. And, last night when he got home from work we took another bicycle ride and did almost 10 miles. That might not seem like much, but the road we took is like being on a rollercoaster, so it was a struggle with the hills. But, it was fun and we will do it again. He gave up his running as he really hated every step he took while running. He is much more into hiking and biking. I see some rock climbing at the local indoor rock climbing place in our near future as well.
Check out our pick after we were done hiking. Oh, and the one of Tony and the HUGE mushroom we found. Don’t worry.. he didn’t really eat it.
Tony will continue on his journey to living healthier and fit. As with any program there are ups and downs but all in all he said that Nutrisystem is what has changed his life and he would highly recommend it to anyone no matter where you are in your fitness journey. The program teaches one how to eat, and how to incorporate things like exercise, drinking water, and portion control into every day life. Healthy living is a life change, not a change for the time being. Take control of your life and enjoy your life because there is only one chance at this life so we need to treat our bodies kind for our bodies to treat us kind.
