You can keep your floors clean while you enjoy your pets. Having a pet is a big part of many families. Dogs and cats can be fun, but did you know there are many health benefits to having a pet? Pets are great companions, but here are some great reasons to have a pet in your life. There’s no need to let the worry of messy floors keep you from having pets.

Improved Physical Health
Studies show that kids raised in a household with ‘furry’ pets are less likely to have allergies and asthma. Growing up on a farm around bigger animals seems to fall in this category as well. It may seem like more allergies would show up with pets, but this has been disproved in scientific research, as well as increasing overall immunity in children. Pets can also help kids with ADHD by helping them focus on responsibilities, but with a routine.
Physical health is impacted in many other ways. Having pets has been proven to lower blood pressure, and even cholesterol! No room for a dog or cat? Watching fish in an aquarium also lowers blood pressure and stress. Even heart attack patients that have pets tend to live longer than others with no pets in their life. Having a pet nearby was shown to relieve stress, even more than having a loved one near.
If you have a dog, you are likely to exercise and play more. Walking the dog is a great excuse to get off the couch and move. Just tossing a ball around in the yard can get your heart rate going, and increases serotonin levels in the brain, since you are having fun.
And, because having pets means a little more household cleaning, you get exercise while vacuuming your floors. Speaking of vacuum cleaners, I got a chance to try the Steva by Nugeni.
It’s the world’s first, most powerful, lightest weight, ALL IN ONE, mobile or upright, steamer or vacuum, clean anything, clean everything (without chemicals!), in ANY home, system! No need for multiple pieces of equipment to keep your floors cleaned! It’s complete with a powerful, cordless handheld vacuum and upright vacuum, steam mop and mobile steam cleaner using interchangeable cleaning appliances.
Standout features include:
- 4 in 1 cleaning unit: Both the handheld steamer and the cordless handheld vacuum snap into the universal mop stick, creating an upright cordless vacuum or an upright steam mop in seconds.
- Reduces allergy and asthma triggers: Features AllergyAware vacuum filter with Dual Layer technology
- Chemical-free cleaning: Sanitize and deodorize almost every surface in your home, without chemicals.
- Wide range of accessories: Includes crevice and extension tools, multiple steamer accessories and more for total customizable cleaning.
- Easily store: Convenient charging base doubles as tool and accessory storage.
I liked that I could clean my floor without the need of pulling out multiple mops, sweepers, etc. And, I didn’t need to worry about chemicals I was putting on the floors that might irritate our pets’ feet.
One of our dogs doesn’t shed, but our other one has hair that floats across the floor. The Steva by Nugeni did well to sweep up any hair, plus the dirt they track in from playing outside. My only negative about the system is learning to switch out the parts to convert for different tasks. Which isn’t such a bad point when you consider how much it can do without needing to buy multiple appliances. It’s light weight makes it easy to use daily to keep any messes under control.
Improved Emotional Health
Want to meet people? A pet is a great conversation starter. For someone that is shy, your pet can be quite the ice breaker. If you take your dog to the park, you can meet other dog lovers. It is a great way to meet others and you may even find love along the way- or at least a date!
The emotional benefits of having a pet are also impressive. Pet owners tend to have less anxiety and depression. Bonding with a pet helps with feelings of loneliness. In times of great loss, the love and affection of a pet can see us through. Since pets give unconditional love, people tend to be reassured and less anxious during difficult times.
Improved Mental Health
Do you have older adults in your life? Studies have shown Alzheimer’s patients have less anxious outbursts if they have a pet. Pets have a calming influence on people, especially if someone is feeling agitated. Just stroking a soft animal can be soothing.
For other elderly people, pets help them stay connected to others, and not so isolated. Pets motivate folks stay involved in daily activities. Pets also help the elderly find or keep meaning to their lives, and these pet owners tend to go the doctor’s less and be healthier than people the same age that do not have a pet in their life.
Who can resist those loveable balls of fur we call our pets? If you need another reason to add a furry friend to your family, just consider these health benefits. Having a pet is a win-win situation for us people and for the pets we love. Watch this short video to learn more about how Steva by Nugeni can keep your floors clean:
