Ever since I have been little I have loved going on rides at parks or fairs. I used to love the spinning rides, now I am just a roller coaster freak! I can’t do the spinning ones anymore, but will do any coaster, any day, at any time! Just try me!!
I was so excited that hubby and I got the chance to check out Busch Garden’s on our last trip to Florida. We haven’t been there yet, and I have heard so much about the place and the rides I have wanted to go for a while now. Huge thanks to Busch Gardens for sponsoring this post and letting us have some fun, because big kids like roller coasters too!
We had actually been staying on Pine Island for our week of vacation, and left there on Saturday and headed to Tampa to spend the night and recharge before hitting Busch Garden’s on Sunday. We relaxed that evening and got up early to make sure we got there when the gates opened so we could enjoy as much time as possible. We needed to leave the park by 6 to get back on the road. Wanted to get miles behind us before crashing somewhere on Sunday night. See, we drove from Minnesota to Florida so we try to time things to fit around what we want to do for fun. Well, even though Tony (hubby) isn’t huge on coaster, mostly because he is scared of heights and, well of bad things happening. (LOL), I am a coaster freak! So, I was super excited when we were driving to the gate and I seen coasters all over the park. Yeah!! Gonna get my coaster fix!! Upon entering the gate we were greeted by a parking ticket guy who pretty much made my morning. Super friendly, a huge smile, and funny! That is so important in my book, to have friendly and attentive staff, anywhere, not just at a park. We parked the car and headed to the train that brings people in and out of the park. Upon entering the park we got our passes for the Quick Que. I was a bit taken back because on the site they start at $19.99 each, but when you get there they charge you a lot more. We paid $45 a piece for them as the girl at the window said it was a high traffic day. I don’t feel that is right, and is really my only major complaint about Busch Garden’s. See, on weekends they charge more. I get that traffic is higher on weekends, but keeping something one price all the time is right, in my opinion. Anyhow.. we got our passes and headed into the park.
The park is beautiful, and big. I didn’t realize how big till we started looking at the map and walking around. I will say, be prepared to walk, lots! Everything is very spread out. Sadly, we didn’t even see half the park, but I will explain why later on.
First thing we did was head for a coaster. We decided to check out Gwazi, which is a wooden roller coaster. Hubby and I headed straight to the front of the line, and climbed on. This coaster was amazing!! We were both smiling from ear to ear, he loved it and we got off and did it again!! Since we were there early there was about a 5 min wait. We didn’t even have to use our Quick Que for this one. It was so much fun!!
After that ride we decided to walk a bit, look and see what else there was. Well, all of a sudden we came upon SheiKra. OH MY… This is a diving roller coaster and it looked so cool!! But, being that it is a tad more outrageous than Gwazi, Tony just held my purse and sunglasses and I ran right to the front of the line and climbed into the only extra front seat available. Yes, I have to say I was a bit freaked out, but OH MY… I didn’t expect what a rush this ride would give me. This ride climbs 200 Ft and has a 90 degree drop and 70mph speed. Being in the front was for sure the only way to experience this ride. (in my opinion). At least for the first time. What an adrenaline rush, and a heart stopping ride. WOW!!
After that ride I needed to walk a bit. I can honestly say I have never been on a ride that actually freaked me out .. but this did it and I loved it! I wanted to do it again, but wanted to walk some more first.
We headed over to Walkabout Way, and I got to feed a baby kangaroo. A few years back I actually got to hold a baby kangaroo at farm in South Dakota, but never got to feed one, so I took my chance. They are so cute, and such unique animals. What fun that was. Check out all the kangaroo’s.
After feeding the kangaroo’s we headed over to Lory Landing. Now, if you know me personally you will know that I love birds! All kinds of birds and there have been times I actually owned a couple but had to choose my husband, or my birds 😉 The 2 cannot live in the same house.. so because my husband brings me on awesome trips like this, I choose him 😉 LOL! Seriously, I love birds and some day, will have a feathered friend. For now, I will just visit them when I can. Lory Landing is neat! You can buy nectar for them to eat. You get your cup, walk in the door and in less than a second you are covered in beautiful Lory’s They eat the nectar and then they are off to the next person with a cup of juice for them. I would have spent all day in there, but hubby didn’t agree with me.
After having some fun with the Lory’s, we checked out some of the fun and beautiful Christmas displays. They really go all out for Christmas. I love these huge red trees!! I want them in my yard at home for the holiday seasons.
One of my friends had told me that her favorite ride is the Cheetah Hunt. So, we headed that way to check it out. Hubby was a bit hesitant as it looks pretty scary (to him) but he wanted to try it. So, we took the gondola over to check out Cheetah Hunt. Wow.. let me just say I can see why my friend loves this ride. It is amazing, awesome, thrilling, fast, and a rush!! Cheetah Hunt is the longest ride at the park, at 4400 ft long. That makes it even better cuz when you are having fun you want it to last! This ride was so awesome!! Even though I loved SheiKra, I have to say this one was more awesome, mostly because I got to share it with my hubby and he loved it too! We actually rode this 2 times back to back, and one time before leaving the park.
Close by was another one that looked fun, so we headed that way. Using our Quick Que we got onto Montu. We watched it from the ground a bit, and both decided it looked cool. Well, sad to say this ride is what cut our day short. We both got so disoriented, upset tummy’s, instant headaches. That is really strange for Tony because he is the one who can take twisting/turning rides. But, regardless, we both just were not happy. We decided to try and eat something and could hardly eat. So, we walked around a bit more to try and shake that funky feeling that ride gave us. We wanted to do more rides, but I knew if I tried to quick I would be in pain all day. We were right by Cheetah Hunt and hubby really wanted to ride that one again, so we gave it a try. Got to the front of the line with our Quick Que passes and climbed on. The ride rocked, again but because I was already not feeling too good from Montu, I got even more shook up and just had to call it a day. That made us both so sad, but yet we had fun for the time we were able to spend there. Note to self, no more coasters that have twists and turns like Montu.
After we had done the Cheetah Hunt ride again, hubby said.. we should give our Quick Que passes to 2 people… so.. this young guy and girl walked by and I said.. Hey.. you going on this ride ? They stopped, looked at me kinda strange.. and said.. we were going to .. is if fun. I said.. It Rocks! Then I said.. did you get any Quick Que passes today? The girl said.. no, we didn’t have money for those. I said.. how would you like ours, we are leaving and there is front of the line for 5 more rides today. The girl said.. “they are worth $40 each” and they guy was like.. Really ? We said.. YUP.. Merry Christmas and enjoy. Shook their hands and they kept saying thank you, thank you. Boy.. that put a huge smile on our faces, on their faces and warmed our hearts to do a good deed.
The park is packed with so many awesome looking rides, and so next time I visit I will hit them all, except Montu. If you haven’t been to Busch Garden’s I urge you to add it to your bucket list. If you are a coaster lover, animal lover, like beautiful scenery, or whatever your pleasure, Busch Garden’s is one of those parks that has something for everyone. Fun for families, girls weekends, honeymoons, romantic getaways, etc.
Hubby and I had fun ~ See ~ This is our Busch Garden’s Photo Booth fun.
