If you have been keeping an eye on me either by reading my posts, or my FB updates or my Instagram updates you would know that for a while now I have been dealing with some tummy issues. Back in Sept I found out I have IBS. I kinda figured so, but didn’t want to really believe it till I heard if from a professional. But, I thought there might be other things going on so I had a colonoscopy, a SITS marker test and was set up to have a Breath Test to check for small intestinal bacteria overgrowth. Well, I had to cancel the Breath Test because I was starting to get a cold and didn’t want to chance that effecting my results, nor did I want to sit in the room for 3 -4 hours feeling like crap because you can’t take cold meds or any meds for 12 hours before the test.
Anyhow, I had been talking to a friend and she was telling me about how her and her boyfriend juice and how good it is for you. I have read all about it, but never attempted it due to lack of knowing how or what. I don’t own a juicer and don’t know much about what a person juices (fruits, veggies, etc.). For about 5 years now I have been stuck in this cycle of thinking that the best thing for me is these weight loss/meal replacement shakes. I tried many, and even though I liked them they didn’t like me. I know they work great for some, but they didn’t for me. And, since a person doesn’t really know what “ALL” the ingredients on the label really are, why chance it ? Real food is just that.. real!!
I was surfing Groupon one day and came across a company that sold juice cleanses. JusbyJulie had a 3 day or 5 day juice cleanse. It was made fresh and shipped overnight to your door. I thought, why not give this a try. Here is what showed up at my door. Three six packs of juice in a cool, insulated JusbyJulie bag. (my new beach bag).
My daily juice was blends like Morning Glory, Sweet Spin, Acai Blend, Chia Berry, Not So Chunky, Spicy Pome-Nade, Island Coconut, and Spicy Lemonade. The only one I don’t care for is Morning Glory. It is fully loaded with good for you stuff like romaine, celery, spinach, apple, kale, banana, and strawberry. But, I very much dislike celery and that is all I can taste for some reason. But, the other ones in the cleanse were very good and I didn’t have a problem drinking them. This cleanse gives you 800-900 calories per day, for 3 days. You can eat egg whites, steamed veggies and raw veggies if you need.
I started my cleanse on Valentine’s Day, when I was sick. I had a severe head cold so day one I was able to drink the Morning Glory and it didn’t taste too bad. Well, day 2 I had my taste buds back and couldn’t hardly choke it down. LOL! (big baby I am). Day one I managed to drink all the six bottles of juice, and also had 2 egg whites and about a cup of steamed green beans. Day 2 I drank four of the six bottles, had 2 egg whites, some steamed green beans and carrots (1 1/2 cup). I did spend most of day 2 in bed as I was just feeling horrible from my cold. Day 3 I skipped the morning glory and drank a sweet spin instead. I headed out to town to drop off my dog at my Aunts house and brought the chia berry for my ride. Well, I am thinking that the morning glory is needed because of all that’s in it and I did get a tad hungry so had a half an apple at my aunts. Fruit isn’t on the “can eat” list, but that was all she had. I came home and drank 2 other juices for a total of 4 on day 3. That left me with 4 that I still had in the freezer. Yes, I said freezer. I froze day 3 worth of juice because it is made fresh so by the time you get it is 2 days old, and it is good kept refrigerated for 4 days so they suggest to freeze the days past the 2nd day and take them out of the freezer and thaw on counter overnight for your next day. So, I ended up with four juices left for today. One is morning glory so not sure I can choke it down. Was thinking of pouring it in my blender and adding something to it. LOL!! What is neat is that the bottles are numbered so you know what juice to drink when.
I drank my last juice of my 3 day cleanse last night at about 7pm, and then went to bed about 9. I was still not feeling the best from my cold. For 2 nights I suffered with terrible chills and then hot sweats. (no, not menopause but just like that). I honestly was not looking forward to today because I have so much to get done and just haven’t felt good. Well, I woke up at 7am, my body didn’t hurt, my head didn’t hurt, I wasn’t all stuffed up, I sprung out of bed (like a 42 year old, not 19 year old) and looked in the mirror and about passed out!! OMG!! I have my tummy back!! I have been so bloated lately with all my issues that I have looked preggo for months. Yes, I would have better days and worse days but with all the exercising I have been doing and watching what I eat it was getting frustrating! Today, I see my hard work. I see my abs, my lines, my results of my hard work and this cleanse. No, I am not a super model, and am not ripped. I am just little ol’ me, doing the best I can to not let age take it’s tole on me. I am proud of myself for sticking with this cleanse. I can’t honestly remember the last time I went 3 days without chocolate, chips, cookies, cake, sugar, etc. So, I am proud 🙂
Pictures are grainy (thanks iPhone) but this is me this morning, no makeup, hair a mess, right out of bed. I dropped 7# and 3″ off my “gut” area (around the belly right below the belly button). I am so happy, and impressed with the JusbyJulie. I will be ordering another cleanse when I get back from my Florida vacation, right before I head back to Florida for my cruise.
Just for fun 🙂
They now have a line of soups and shots. Check them out, and tell me your thoughts.
After vacation I did a second round. You can read about that here ~ Jus by Julie Juice Cleanse Second Round
