Take Control Of Your Health

In life there is only one person that can tell you how you feel, and that is you.  Yes, there are tests a doctor can do, and pills that will cure just about anything, but in all honesty you and only you have control of your body and what you do for your body.  Eating right, exercising, good sleep, among many other things are all things you control.

Back in March of 2010 I decided to try a new product because I was told it would make a huge difference in my life.  Well, ultimately it did.  It lead me to where I am now ~ A Living Smart Girl who wised up.

Story is ~  In March 2010 my husband and I were walking thru our local mall and came across a Body by Vi (ViSalus) booth.  Not knowing what it was or anything about it we stopped, ordered shakes, talked to one of the gals at the counter and then went on our way. Well we thought the shakes tasted good, we did some talking and I decided I was going to give them a whirl.  My husband also realizing he needed to lose about 40# and since he has tried many things he thought he would give this a go.  So, first I joined as a promoter.  Paid lots of money, got my kit and started using them.  Then, my upline kept pushing me to sell sell sell, and make the next level.  So, I got talked into signing my husband up as a promoter.. another ouch in the pocketbook.  Well, we both were on the shakes, me 2 times a day and him one a day except on his days off work then he would do 2.  I lost about 10# (didn’t really need too)  and he started to see the weight loss.  Me being huge into fitness, health, wellness and such and also the fact I research things daily due to me living with Fibro, I started to do much research because I felt crappy all the time.  Tired, sore, icky tummy, headachy, etc.  Yes, I know a lot is due to the Fibro.. but was told by many who were on these shakes that I would feel amazing and like a new girl.  NOT!
My husband lost 25# + and even though he lost weight he still was not feeling great.  Most of his weight loss was due to him being diagnosed with kidney cancer, going thru surgery for a tumor removal and recovering from all that. But, he continued to do the shakes, but said he was always starving!  And when one is hungry, they are crabby, irritable and just not in a good place.  So, in my research I started to realize.. the reason he and many others lose weight so fast on the shakes is this ~
The shakes are 90 Calories.  There is a chart we need to go by showing us how many calories one needs to lose weight, maintain weight or gain weight depending on your goals.  Well, he was about 1000 calories a day down from what his daily calorie intake should be which is why he was hungry, had no energy, couldn’t sleep and more.   So, these shakes are not a healthy way to lose weight… because you are actually starving.  You are taking things away from your body that it needs.
A body need proper nutrition.  You need to eat 6-8 small meals a day.  If you need 1500 calories a day and eat 6 times you need at least 250 calories for each meal.  Body by Vi does not teach you how to eat, how to lose or maintain.  They teach you how to promote, and grow a business to make money or drive a new car.  A person will fall on their face if you go off the shakes, as my husband did.  He was so tired of being hungry and tired and so quit the shakes and gained all he had lost back.  Not because he started to eat unhealthy, but because he was actually putting food back in his body.  He isn’t one to exercise much, so until he starts to move his body a bit more he will always fight the weight issue.
Me, I just couldn’t keep putting something in my body that had a ton of ingredients I was unsure of.  And, something made me feel like crap and I came to the conclusion it was the shakes.  Once I stopped doing ViSalus, I started to feel normal again.  My headaches quit, my tummy issues stopped and I was back to myself.  But, I yet yearned to find a product that would help me feel better all around and something that I could feel proud to put in my body and promote.

I hate to see people giving up a chunk of their life and pocketbook to be on ViSalus shakes.   More and more are finding out they are no good.  But, if you ask someone who is driving a new car from them they will fight you tooth and nail and get very upset with you if you have doubts.. why?  Well because they are in it for the money, not the health.  ;)

While the Vi Shakes might taste better than many others on the market ~ Advocare, Shakeology, Herbalife, Shaklee, etc.  The main thing to keep in mind is how it makes you feel and if it is doing what the company claims.  So many people are getting sick on the shakes, and are expecting things that aren’t happening.. like a healthy life, money, cars, etc.

I am sure that there are many that will disagree with my post, or be mad because I am not backing ViSalus.   Well, all I can say is to each their own.  What doesn’t work for one, might work for another so do what you need to do for you.  I am just sharing my story, like it or not.

But, always be informed and read ingredients.   Your body will be the thing to tell you if what you are putting in it is working or not.

Breakfast Shakes: Drink Yourself Skinny
