With technology at our fingertips, it isn’t surprising that even talking with a doctor can be done through an app on our smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. Doctor On Demand is a heathcare service that provides Video Visits with board certified physicians, physchologists, and lactation consultants. The app is available on iOS and Android. The concept behind this is truly amazing. I’m usually a “wait and see” kind of person. When I develop any cold or flu symptoms, I try my best to fight it off with rest, fluids, and vitamins, but when push comes to shove I make my way into the doctor. We are on-the-go people and when we get sick it can be hard to find the time to get into the doctor.
When you’re under the weather as it is, hauling yourself into the doctor can cause even more of a headache. Plus, who wants to be in a room full of more sick people? Having an app like Doctor on Demand would give me an easy way to chat with a doctor about my symptoms and put my mind at ease. The doctors are even able to prescribe medications for infections, allergies, skin conditions and more. Be aware they do not prescribe any narcotics or pain medications that have been classified as a controlled substance.
Some of the common ailments treated during Video Visits are:
- Cold & Flu
- Sore Throat
- Sports Injuries
- Skin Issues/Rashes
- Pediatric Issues
- Trauma & Loss
- Alcohol & Tobacco
- Many lactation issues such as milk production, plugged ducts and mastitis, and more.
Doctor On Demand would be perfect for busy parents for cuts, scrapes, and other minor injuries. When you’re juggling work, dinner, errands, checking homework, and everything else taking the kids into the doctor is stressful. Using the camera on your phone or computer to speak directly with an actual doctor can be a lifesaver. The certified doctors are also there to answer any questions you might have, even when you’re not sick. Ask them questions on allergies or the recent measles outbreak. Talk to a physchologist about stress, depression, or other mental health issues. They can offer advice on traveling or how best to quit smoking. I enjoyed my visit with a Doctor, and asked some questions in regards to my current condition. I wanted more of a second opinion to see if what I am currently doing and have been prescribed was what another Doctor would recommend. I found it very helpful and my Doctor was friendly and thorough.
The Doctor On Demand app is free to download and free to register. Once you have done both, provide a list of your symptoms, and you’ll be instantly connected to a provider licensed in your state. Right now Doctor On Demand is offering a FREE video visit for first time users. Use the code living15 right away or store it in your account for future use.
