Motivation Tips from Sweat Pink Girls

Fall is here, cold weather starts to set in, shorter days, less daylight, and the sluggish feeling we all get this time of year.  It is hard sometimes to stay on track with our fitness goals this time of year.  All the heavy food Holidays that are within a 3 month span ~ Halloween (candy, candy, candy), Thanksgiving (way to much food), and Christmas (food, candy, food,).. then of course New Years (food, drinks, food, drinks,.. bad headache).   It is hard to stay on track with all the temptations.   But, have no fear as I have gathered some great tips to help keep you motivated and to help you get thru the rest of 2012 and start 2013 on the right foot!!

Here are some amazing tips, from some amazing girls.   These come from some Sweat Pink Ambassadors ( #SPA )  Read the tips, and check out their sites to learn more great tips.

Erin Smith  ~  My tip is if you don’t have time to get in a full workout, squeeze in a plank! It only takes a minute and never hurts to work your core! http://girlgoneveggie.com
Pam Keenan ~  My tip if you are super busy is to park your car as far as possible from the store. A five minute walk/jog is better than no exercise. http://www.werundisney.com/
Lisa Pokorny Couch ~  Here is a tip for the exercising mommies: Whether at the playground, a local park, or your own yard, you can easily incorporate a short exercise routine into an outdoor adventure with your children. Make outdoor time for your family a priority and not only will you get in a short workout but your little one will love it too! To top it off, this also teaches your child the importance of enjoying an active lifestyle! www.lisarunsforcupakes.blogspot.com
Sarah J. Darlow-Parker ~  My tip: even if you only have 15 minutes to exercise, don’t write it off: do it anyway (I have to tell myself this all the time)! Squats, burpees, and pushups can be done anywhere with no equipment. Do 2 Tabata bouts for a killer 8-10 minute metabolic workout. http://fitbetty.com
Angela Harris ~ When I had a desk job, I would take a few minutes about every two hours or so and do some arm lifts. 10 or 15 reps, using a stapler for weight. It also helps to stand up and stretch. www.angiloo.blogspot.com
Molly Donohue Ritterbeck ~ Pre-pack so there is no excuse!!!!  Also make sure that I try to do exercises at my desk = get up and walk the stairs, purposely park at the other end of the parking lot, etc… www.mollyritterbeck.com

Gina Topley ~ Motivation for working out tip: Make exercise fun by finding something active that you love such as hiking or yoga. http://healthloveandchocolate.com/

Mindy Artze ~ My best tip is that I tie a ribbon around the refrigerator doors (I have the side by side fridge) I have to untie the ribbon to get the food that I want to eat. It makes me take a few extra seconds to think about my food or drink choices. http://mindysfitnessjourney.blogspot.com/

Tara Gusmanis ~  1. Always always keep running shoes & gym clothes in your car and at the office. You never know when you might get the “urge” to sweat/workout. 2. Send out an email at work and get together a walking group-20 mins/3 x a week=office hero!

Katie Miller Scott ~  My tip is to trick yourself. When I don’t feel like working out I tell myself “well just put your workout clothes on”, then after I’m dressed I tell myself “maybe just take a short walk/go to the gym”. In no time at all I’m working out and loving it! It sounds crazy but it works!! katemovingforward.blogspot.com
Larissa Causi Milano ~ A tip that I love using and works! When you really don’t want to miss your favorite TV show but need to get a workout in schedule a certain exercise for every commercial break. The average break is 2 minutes. You can plan for the first 2 to do 10 pushups, 10 squats and jacks until the show comes back on. You can still watch your show but get some training in too! www.larissamilanofitness.com
Such amazing and useful tips from the SPA Girls.
Tips from Me (Living Smart Girl) ~
When I wake up the first thing I do is drink a large (28 oz) glass of ice cold water.    And I never am without water for the whole day.  I take it everywhere I go.  Keeping hydrated is so important, plus it helps curb hunger pains :)    I use fruit to keep my water drinking interesting.  I add a slice of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit.  Sometimes even berries.  If I have fruit that is starting to go bad I freeze it into ice cube trays for my water.
When I make my bed I take a few extra minutes and add in exercise.  I have a king size bed so what I do is every time I have to walk to the other side to pull up the sheet, then blanket, then bedspread, then add pillows.. I stop at the foot of the bed and do a series of squats, pushup and crunches.  It is a great way to add extra exercise to the day.
I use an electric toothbrush that is set to brush for 90 seconds.  I do squats the whole 90 seconds.  Not much, not hard.. but adds to the nice booty ;)
Because I sit a lot, doing my blogging/working I try to get in as many extra steps in my day as I can.  Things like walking to the mailbox, taking the dogs for a walk even if it’s a short walk, using my upstairs bathroom instead of the main floor right by my office, etc.
Got hunger pains?   Take your mind off the idea of food by doing something better.. exercising.  If I get the urge to snack, I stand up, then hit the floor and do crunches, sit ups, planks, squats, etc.  Anything.. to take my mind off food.   By the time I am exhausted from adding exercise into my day I am not thinking about food, but yet getting back to work.
Do you have some tips to share??  Message me and maybe we will share them her on Living Smart Girl.
