Unleash that inner monkey in yourself and do what monkey’s do best, eat banana’s.
Banana’s are a long time healthy snack that are not only fun, but packed with lot’s of what a body needs. That must be why monkeys eat them, and where we learned our banana loving habits.. right ?
Not sure why you should be eating banana’s? Well because they are a good source of natural sugar and fiber to give you an energy boost that doesn’t cause a crash (like icky energy drinks).
They contain tryptophan, which is an aminoacid that is converted to serotonin, leading to improved mood, and who doesn’t like to be in a good mood ?
High in Iron, can help restore normal bowel function, help protect eye sight, can keep your bones healthy, help with morning sickness and just so much more. Banana’s are the fruit that everyone should keep on hand. I add a whole banana to my morning breakfast shake every single day. And, there are days I eat a second banana just because I love banana’s. Check out some other great facts on banana’s at the Chiquita site.
Check out my fun Banana Berry Ice Cream Recipe.
I cut up 2 banana’s and a few strawberries and laid them on a plate, and placed them in the freezer.
I left them in there for about 4 hours. Took them out and put them in my blender.
I then started to pulse, pulse, pulse my blender. This takes some time as the fruit is frozen pretty good. Patience is a virtue.. right 😉
Keep pulsing and scraping the sides of the blender container. When you are getting a nice smooth mix, add in 1/2 cup of greek yogurt. I used plain yogurt, but you could use a strawberry, banana, or vanilla one. Continue to pulse and mix in blender till desired consistency. This can take about 15 minutes. Depending on the kind of blender you have. I have a super cheap blender so had to take my time as it kept stopping due to the frozen fruit being a bit much for it.
TaDa ~ Banana Berry Ice Cream ~ Healthy.
This was so good I actually ate it all myself. I started thinking, what about using banana’s and dumping in some of my Vega chocolate shake mix, yum! You could also add in peanut butter, or any other frozen fruit. A nice alternative to sugar loaded ice cream. Get the kids involved. Let them pic the stuff to add. For kids, when all done you can stir in some goodies like m&m’s, or chocolate chips. Possibilities are endless. Enjoy 🙂
