So, which one are you?   I know PMS is not funny, but we all get it and those around us who don’t get it, have to deal with us!

Here are a few great tips to help you with your PMS.

Got Cramps ?  Try Shiatsu massage.  Try it on yourself by firmly squeezing the fleshy webbing between your index finger and thumb for a few minutes once or twice a day.  That area is known as the large intestine number 4 point, which is used to ease menstrual cramps and other pain.

Leaky Bladder ?  Try Yoga.   There are certain postures that help bolster a weak pelvic floor.  Women deal with a weakening of the pelvic floor due to having kids, weight gain, and other issues.  Yoga helps build an awareness of your body so you can feel and use the muscles required to strengthen the pelvic floor.    The Warrior 2 pose is great for strengthening your pelvic floor.  Do  Warrior 2, twice a day on each side ~ holding for up to 1 minute at a time ~ 3-5 times a week.

Hot Flashes ?   Try Acupuncture for your hot flashes.  This is an ancient healing practice which uses needles to target specific points on the body and manipulate qi, or energy.  It has proven to relieve many conditions.

Hormonal Insomnia ?   Enjoy a Sauna.  Just like the Finnish do, relax in a sauna to ease your body toward a better sleep.  Warming up the body helps blood vessels to dilate and constrict which improves circulation and loosens tight muscles.  A great pre-bedtime relaxation.
No Sauna ?  You can also fill up your bathtub with hot water (105 degrees) and add in some Epsom salts and soak for 60 – 90 minutes before bedtime.  The Epsom salt contains magnesium which can help relax the muscles.  Plus, the warm water will help soothe the body and mind.  Light some candles, turn the lights off and relax.

Mood Swings ?   Try Aromatherapy to boost your mood and help with mood swings.  Smelling things like rosemary or lavender can boost mood and improve mental performance.   Try combining 6 to 8 drops of geranium, lavender, and sweet orange oil in a diffuser.  (always use real essential oils)

I know that sometimes all we want to do is curl up in a ball, cry, bite someones head off, scream, go hide, etc.  But, life doesn’t stop for PMS so try these tips and kick PMS in the butt!
