  1. I have a question when it says almond milk should it be unsweetened or can you use original ?

    Thanks!

    • You can use either the sweetened or unsweetened. Just a taste preference :)

    • I use the unsweetened Almond Milk and it taste VERY good.

    • I have used both, the unsweet is only 35 calories verses 60-90 of original per 8 oz serving. When I fix my shakes I only use 4 oz of any kind of milk, so you are getting smaller portion size and calory count. I use unsweet choc. pudding using only 1/3 of the portion size, therefore getting 3 shakes per pudding. I use the same for yogurts these help cut carbs and give flavor with out all the calories!

  2. Awesome! Thanks so much for these! Very helpful :)

  3. How come all the fruits are frozen?

    • Lindsay says:

The frozen fruits are great because they add the thick frozen shake texture without using ice. I like this option because I make my shakes in the morning and bring them to work, this way they don’t get watered down as the ice melts because it’s actually frozen fruit. You can use ice with fresh fruit if you like but in my experience I can never use my fruit fast enough and it goes bad :(

  4. These are great recipes. However, I am not a big fan of the Almond milk. Can I substitue skim milk instead?

    • Hi Robyn, You can use any kind of milk you would like for these recipes.

    • I use Hemp milk because it has Omegas! Despite what people might think, it does not have THC and is not a drug. It comes from the hemp plant which has been found to be very healthy and should not be confused with marijuana. Almond milk and skim milk do not have the Omegas that most of us aren’t getting enough of! :)

  5. What are the flavor packets you mention in your recipes?

    • Karen,

When you order your shake mix you will get packets of different flavors called Mix Ins. They come in chocolate, strawberry, banana, and peach. They are nice to add to a shake for added flavor and nutrients.

  6. Stephanie Munroe says:

My new favorite recipe is 10oz almond milk, I tbsp nutella, 1 small banana, 2 scoops shake mix and 6 ice cubes, blended!! Delicious for u chocolate and banana lovers

  7. I don’t know which one I want to try most. They all sound so mouth wateringly good. lol

  8. Sylvie Lefebvre says:

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the recipes !!!
When you say “butter flavoring (or butter buds)”, what is it?

  9. Do you have any recipes with vegetables?

    • No, sorry I don’t.

    • Try putting spinach leaves in any recipe.

    • I have a carrot cake recipe that uses fresh carrots….it is awesome!!! You can also throw any veggies in with your fruit and they still taste good. :-)

      • I would love your carrot cake recipe! My mom and I are doing Vi shape together and she loves carrot cake!

        • I don’t have a recipe for that. Sorry

        • I had a carrot cake shake this morning! I use 1 individual bag of baby carrots, 2 t. of cheesecake jello instant pudding mix, 1 c. almond milk, 2 scoops shake mix and 4-6 ice cubes. Blend well and enjoy!

          • Hi there,

I recently heard on the Dr. Oz show that the baby carrots are soaked in bleach. Just wanted to share this info with you.

      • Can I get your carrot cake using Vi shape powder? also do you have a protein bar recipe?

        • Hi Sheila, what do you mean by you have wised up. What would you recommend now for weightloss. I would like to lose about 20 pounds. I’ve been doing an exercise program, but I haven’t lost much weight, since I’ve turned 40 my metabolism has slowed down. Thanks for any suggestions. :)

        • wondering if you could send me that info… I have tried everything and I was looking into trying this but now I’m not so sure!!! I’m wanting to loose 75lbs
do you have a better idea?????

        • Can you email me this info also. I was looking into this product because i am invited to a party Monday but i like to do my research before I start doing something and i was convinced until i read this post!

  10. Thanks for posting the recipes! I’m getting my first kit this week! For those that work during the day, how do you make your shakes for lunch? Do you make them in the mornings and frig until lunch or blend during lunch?

    • Well congrats ! Actually, I work from home so can make them as I need/want. But, when I am out and about I just bring 8 oz of water, my shaker cup and the mix and mix with the water when I am ready to drink. It still tastes great.

      • I just purchased a portable blender from Walmart-it was only $15 online and i picked it up at the store today. Dont know how well it works yet but im sure it works well for on the go and at the office.

    • Tiffani says:

I use lunch as my meal and do a shake for breakfast and dinner.

    • Brandy says:

I bought a personal size blender at a local department store for under $20. works great and I can drink it from the container on top.

    • magic bullet!

  11. I would be nice if you would post the calories for the recipes for those calorie counters!!!

  12. Crystal says:

I’m so happy I’ve stumbled across this page you’ve worked so hard to put together!! This evening I signed up to get my ESS promoter package. I can’t wait to start using these shakes, shedding my pounds HEALTHFULLY and making a little money on the side. You have a library of AWESOME ideas! Thank you so much!

  13. Teresa says:

    I tried a new recipe & it’s very filling . 2scoops of vi mix, 6in banana, 4-6ice cubes 8oz of milk (i i used 2%).
1 teaspoon of sugar free cheesecake instant pudding 2teaspoons of reduced fat peanut butter.
very tasty & 3hrsu later, I’m still full

  14. Florence says:

I have a question I made the banana cream smoothie and when all done it made a full glass is that ok since on the back of the package it says 12 oz?

  15. How big are the samples

  16. jessica says:

    can we use fresh fruit?

    • Yes.. that is better.

      • I find that frozen fruit helps with the texture. Just as adding yogurt or fresh fruit thickens the shake to help hide any graininess from the powder (which is very minimal in comparison to other brands) the frozen fruit thickens it even more (like ice does, but without watering down flavour) to give it more of a smoothie texture. Yum!

  17. Robin Clark says:

This is day one of my shakes!! Just found this site! This morning I just use almond milk and 2 scoops of shake stuff and frozen mixed fruit with ice. It was a little thick but I will learn to mix better so glad I found this site! Wish me luck!

  18. Hi,

I was wondering if you could substitute water for the milk?

    Thanks!

  19. I started by 90 challenge a week ago. Ive tried a fresh fruit in my shakes only. Was pretty yoummy. Glad I found this website. Cant wait to start tring new yummy shakes. BTW…they do work. I lost 3.2 lbs, 1in of each thigh, 2in on each arm, 1in on my tummy, and 1in on my chest.. in just 1 WEEK!!! Very happy.

  20. Try mixing in raw oatmeal to get some extra fiber and keep you fuller longer. Sugar free/Fat free Jello pudding also make great flavorings with very little extra calories added.
I also like to add Super Fruit Powder to my shakes to get some extra anti-oxidants.

Some of my favorite shakes are:

Apple Spice oatmeal, Vi protein, Super Fruits Powder, Milk (of your choice) and ice all blended.

Frozen blueberries, Vi protein, a tablespoon of cheesecake pudding, milk, and blended ice. Tastes just like blueberry cheesecake.

You can do the same with lemon cheesecake, by adding lemon zest (the juice will curdle cow milk, but is ok with plant milks).

These all will make great popsicles as well. There is an awesome popsicle maker out there called ZOKU (available at Williams-Sonoma). Hope you enjoyed these tips.

  21. i have been on the vi fit shakes for almost 1 week and really havent noticed a difference and it hasnet changed my appetite what am i doing wrong please help me???? also what kinda of shakes can i do with orange or rainbow sherbert???

    • Lauren, Are you drinking one shake a day or two? My appetite didnt change much the 1st week. Im on week 5 now and doing great with them. I’ve lost a least a pound a week if not more. Seem to loose more in inches than anything. I have been doing Zumba fitness since Feb and combine with the shakes see a HUGE difference. Hang in there. Everyone has different results. I seem to be the fullest w/ my shakes when I add fresh fruit to mine. Good Luck!!

      • i am doing two shakes a day with strawberries and bananas with almond milk plus shake mix, i have noticed some different in my stomach but thats about it i only eat once a day at dinner and i excersise regularly but i should join a Zumba Fitness thing or something bc maybe i need an extra kick of energy!!! thank you Sheila and Lacy!!!

  22. I have been looking into this for some time now and am still not sure if this will be right for me. Due to my work schedule I would be unable to blend anything. Is there any other way?

  23. I just started this program today and I’m really excited because I have heard so many amazing things about these shakes. I made a chocolate peanut butter shake this morning and I have to say, the taste was amazing. My biggest question is, if I am looking to really lose weight, do I need to be making my shakes with the lowest calories possible or does it really matter just so long as I have two shakes a day and eat a sensible dinner? I don’t want to be loading up my shake by making one of these delicious treats only for it to not get me anywhere! What is everyone’s experiences with this?

    • my experiance is that if you dont put some calories in your shake then you are gonna be starving in less than one hour!!! but also i wouldnt do to many calories bc then you are gonna be stuck and not losing any weight but gaining!!! good luck

  24. Hi have a yummy recipe to add to your list….

I use skim milk but u can use silk or any u like

    so here it is

    skim milk
    2 scoop Vi shake mix
    mio ( orange tangerine flavor)

    makes a yummy orange creamsicle…

  25. I was told to do one choc base shake and the other fruit each day do get better results. Is this true?

  26. when you add the ice cubes to the shakes are you suppose to blend them in the blender with all the other ingrediants or can you just throw ice cubes in and drink it that way without blending the ice in.

  27. Emma Wong says:

If you don’t use the little flavor packets, will the shakes taste the same or is there something else I can use?

  28. I have been doing the shakes for about 2-3 weeks now and I have gained two pounds!! I am drinking two shakes a day and eating one meal for dinner. I have a friend that is a promoter and she told me many things that could be reasons for no weight loss. one thing she said taht i should do is cut out fruit from my shakes either reduce it or cut them out but when i signed up i got that list of shakes and the ingredients are to add fruit to the shakes…..I don’t understand why they put that in there if they are not good for you and wont help….so what are alternatives to make shakes in order to lose weight…. I am kind of disappointed and am hoping to get some answers and get back on track again. Hope someone can help me!

    • Jackie,

I am sorry you are finding that this is not working for you. But, you are not alone. I would love to tell you my story, as I don’t use or promote this product. Please email me directly ~ sheilarae71@gmail.com

    • Hi Everyone,

I have been doing the Body by Vi shake for about 3.5 months now. I try to be consistant, however, some weeks have been better than others. I’ve lost 20 lbs and am still very exited. I try to do 2 shakes a day, eat healthy snacks between shakes and 1 meal a day. (usually Lunch) I recommend that you take a look at how you make your shakes if you are counting calories and measure everything. I’ve done Weight watchers in the past, and to be honest, I combine counting points with doing the shakes. I enjoy the shakes and they are easy to make, and keep me full for @ 3 hours. This is why a do heathly snacks in between. In a pinch, I have used water (with crystal light drink mix) instead of juice. I use 1% milk for my evening shakes. I will continue to use Body by Vi, as I want to lose a large amount of weight. I am trying to walk consistantly for 1 mile a day and increase it a little at a time. I hope this encourges anyone out there who may be having a hard time loosing the weight. Stay consistant, and hang in there. And most importantly, find a program that works for you. Or, as I have done, combine 2 or three programs.

    • Tiffany Reid says:

      Hi Cindy,
My husband (former persoanl trainer) and I have been drinking the shakes for two weeks. We replace two meals as well but we replace breakfast and dinner. If you have a regular meal for dinner and then sleep on it; this can hinder your progress.

  29. in the morning i put 8oz of almond milk, with strong brewed coffee of ur choice i use hazlenut, let is cool add 2scoop of the shake mix and ice blend and u have a frappaccino.

  30. Do you have any hot shake recipes now that the days are getting cooler?

  31. I found all of these recipes helpful. I started the program last week and I love my shakes, but after reading things online, I am seeing that I may be packing my shakes with too many things. That’s why they are so EXTRA good. I usually put raw oatmeal (1 cup) with fruits of my choice… Strawberries, Bananas, & Blackberries mostly. Sometimes I add a table spoon of peanut butter. So is putting all of those things in my shakes bad? Like… 8oz of milk, a cup of oatmeal, 3-4 stawberries, a few blackberries w/ almond breeze milk. It is a meal replacement for me, so that’s why I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, but it seems like it may be a big deal after all

    • You mainly want to make sure you are not adding to much to up the calorie, carb, and sugar content. That would defeat the purpose of a low calorie shake. But, what you are adding is my kind of shake!

  32. I was wondering if you have any savory recipes? I dont always want something sweet. Especially when the shake is for dinner.
    Thanks!

  33. Might be a stupid question, but when you say “cocoa powder” Is it sweetened or the non-sweetened kind?

  34. Hi I was just wondering if i could possibly substitute the Body by Vi Shake Mix for a different kind of protein powder? And also if these recipes help you to lose weight?

    • Ashley,
I am sorry but I don’t know if the recipes will work if you use a different protein powder. They taste like they do when used the ingredients listed. As for losing weight, each person is different. These are all guidelines and adding anything to the main shake mix adds in calories and fat, etc. So, just keep yourself in check and you will be fine.

    • I bet you could use a different powder if you wanted to, but the flavor would be different. Body by Vi is designed to taste like cake mix and the amount of protein is designed to be a certain amount for a reason. Some powders on the market have way too much – more designed for a body builder! …which most of us aren’t :)

  35. I just started drinking the shakes today. I am not real impressed with the taste. It took all I had to get them down. Has anyone tried them with juice instead of milk? I found a couple of recipes I am going to try but I am just trying to find something to help with the taste. Thank you!

    • Minute Maid has a 15 calorie juice and Tropicana has a 50 calorie OJ. With OJ it taste like and orange dreamsicle. With the juice I like to use frozen fruit and it comes out like a slushy

  36. Janna Lovell says:

Try 1/2 water 1/2 almond milk. That is what I do!! Love the shakes!!

  37. Hello. I recently bought 2 months worth of Body by Vi shake up kit and i am having trouble finding information regarding meals. Such as, how many calories should the shakes contain after the 90 calorie serving size? Does it matter if I use 12oz of milk and should i be counting the milk calories as well? How many calories should I have a day? When would be the best times to substitute the meals, breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner? As for the “sensible” meal…how many calories should this be and what kind of meals ( meat, veggie and carb?) Can I drink vitamin waters, vitamin water zero? or should I only drink water? Can I have 100 calorie snacks or should I stick to fruits and vegetables? Can I use special K cereals as snacks? PLEASE HELP ME!! Thank you :)

    • Karina,

Hi, I am sorry but I don’t use the product so can’t really help you out as far as what you need to do for your weight loss goals. Keep in mind, the base mix is 90 calories so anything else you add to it does raise the calorie count. I don’t know what your goal is so can’t tell you what you need as far as calories per day. Aside from the calories you also want to watch your carbs, fat, and sodium and also make sure you get enough protein in your day. How much you workout also comes into play with all the above. In your Body by Vi website or back office you can find a lot of info needed for your weight loss goals.

Thanks for visiting Living Smart Girl.

  38. Just started my vi shakes this weekend and I was so happy! I was dreading them, thinking they would taste grainy and not at all appetizing. I was wrong. The angel food cake is my favorite one so far. Thank you so much livingsmartgirl, for this website.

  39. Has anyone tried freezing the shakes? I am on the road all day and would like to make a shake in the morning and drink my frozen one at lunch(5 hours from time out if freezer.) Worried it may taste bad by 12??

  40. I have been on body by vi for a month now and lost about 6 lbs but noticed a huge different inch wise. I try to run 2-3 miles 3 days a week and drink my shakes for breakfast and lunch. I try to eat a healthy dinner. Also I don’t buy from the vi website. I love the shakes!

    • Jennifer says:

Where do you buy, if not on the Vi site??

      • You can get stuff on Amazon, Ebay, and the Vi Site

      • If you join the 90 day challenge and lose 10lbs you will help feed a child in need because Visalus (body by vi) will donate a bag of shake mix to your choice of a homeless shelter and you can also win a thousand dollars for losing 10lbs. I have lost 4lbs in a week, the shakes are amazing and you can make them so many different ways.

  41. Kaleshia says:

Just wanted to share that now they sell coconut milk by the almond milk. There are a few different varieties and let me tell you it is so good. And Coconut milk is so good for you!! Read up on it, I use it and find that I feel so much better :)
    Good luck everyone

  42. Mo Brown says:

I want to no if it is ok if I use water instead of the different milks

  43. I just want to say Thank You for all the recipes! I started the shakes 3 days ago and am down 2lbs already! They are so good when mixed with different ingredients!

  44. I always freeze mine! Like them slushy! I have had one frozen for 2 days and took out to thaw and was still yummy!!

  45. Kim OLive says:

What about adding 4 oz fat free cottage cheese & 4oz unsweetened almond milk, sugar free pistacio pudding & frozen pineapple for a Watergate Shake!

  46. Great list of recipes! I like that “Holiday Shake”- great way to add nutrition to egg nog!

  47. Kim Olive says:

I seem to be gaining weight also! :(

    • That will happen. It isn’t a fix for weight loss, it is a supplement to a healthy life.

      • Kim Olive says:

I just had Weight Loss Surgery a year ago, why would I want to gain weight! I was told if you drink 2 shakes a day that you would lose, not gain! :(

        • Kim

Well the shakes are not for everyone. I myself don’t use, promote or like them. This would be something you need to ask your doctor about. It might not be the shakes, but something else with your body.

  48. I also had a stomach surgery 3 yrs ago and only weigh 143 but wanted to just lose 10 lbs for summer. I have been doing 2 shakes , healthy supper and excercize and have lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks! Didn’t start the workout til week 2! Love the different recipes! The sight is on my home page!

  49. Chiquita says:

I have finally tried the BBV shakes I thought it would be horrible but it taste really good.

  50. Jennifer says:

Just had an amazing shake that tasted exactly like the Strawberry Cheesequake blizzard at Dairy Queen. It was sooo yummy and I felt like I was cheating haha! Definitely a must try!!

8 oz skim milk, 2 scoops of Vi Shape shake mix, 2 oz fat free cream cheese, frozen strawberries, 2 tsp graham crumbs, a few ice cubes.

  51. Veronica says:

I just started drinking the shakes and they are really good, however what do you recommend I do for lunch? I do not have a blender at work. If I blend it in the morning will it still be good in the afternoon?

  52. Verinica…if you have a quick shake from Tupperware you can freeze it overnight and by lunch time you’ll be thawed and cold! Then just shake and drink!

  53. Question, and sorry if I missed this through the many posts and questions, but I was making the shakes with the Jello powder in them….. is it okay to use the Sugar Free Fat Free instant pudding mixes? Or do I have to use the regular pudding mixes? I feel like the instant pudding mix started to solidify my shake into pudding!~ LOL.
    Thanks!

  54. Craig Ronaldson says:

    Great article you have here!

    Those reciepes look delicious!

    Can’t to try them out!

  55. Brianna says:

Could someone email me where I can get the Body by vi powder packets if I don’t sign up? thank you :)

  56. What do u guys eat for your meal a day!? Is there guidelines I need to stick by?

  57. Today was my first day of starting the Vi program. Has not went so well with the taste. But I think many of the recipes will help me out with that.. Thanks for posting the recipes..

  58. For those looking to buy Vi without auto ship. I purchased my first 3 months for $60 each from a local garage sale online page. I think it is common for people on auto ship to end up with these piling up, as was the case with this seller who still uses the shakes. You will find sellers doing the same on eBay and can often get the shape kit ($120 including shipping on auto ship) for $75-100 almost all of the time. Do inquire about the expiration date as some sellers try to sell old product.

    • Yes, you can get it online at Amazon and Ebay or on FB in certain groups. I think the smart people who realize this stuff is terrible for you, are selling what they have. ;)

  59. Started the shakes and they taste great

  60. Kelly J. says:

I just ordered the Vi system, and should be getting it tomorrow… So excited to start. Does anybody have any pointers?

  61. I need to ask about what I am doing wrong! I have been on these shakes for over 2 months. I use the almond milk and my shake mix for breakfast and lunch. I eat my meal for supper. I have only lose 5 pounds in all. I drink water through the day only. I do eat peanut butter crackers for my snack through the day. What am I doing wrong?? Please help

    • Hi,
Thanks for checking out my blog. I am sorry the shakes are not working for you as they “proclaim” to work for everyone. First, let me say… run, run away from these shakes. I don’t promote them. I did at one time until I found out how unsafe the ingredients of the shakes were. Second, losing weight by drinking a shake 2 times a day only, is not a safe way to be healthy. Take some time and research the shakes and read thru my blog. A diet of healthy foods in moderation and daily exercise is key for anyone to lose weight.
You asked “what am I doing wrong”. The answer is… you are expecting to much out of a product. Weight loss is just as much about what you do with your body as what you put in your body. Keep a journal, get an app for your phone to track calories and workouts and only then will you see a new healthy you come alive :)

  62. tiffany tolon says:

I want to say after tasting them i have to disagree. Herbalife has the best tasting shakes. And they are cheaper. I have tried Myoplex, Muscle Milk, Herba Life, Right Size Smoothie, Shakeology, and Body By Vi, as well as special K and others that are over the counter.

  63. Nothing is cheaper than Body By Vi. We are the only ones who give you your products for free
